Traffic Accidents in Israel
|
|
|
To answer the complex question of how many accidents occur annually in Israel, one
must first define what constitutes a traffic accident. No definition
has been enacted in law, not even in the police ordinances. The
Traffic Division defines an accident as any traffic related incident
with casualties, or damage of any kind to vehicle or property. Not
every incident is investigated, which means that not in every instance
is a police file opened.

Road Accidents in 2003
|
|
| Principal findings and trends |
|
The drop in road accidents and injuries continued in 2003. There were 18,149 accidents within
the Green Line in which 37,520 people were injured (a drop of about 6% in accidents and injuries
compared with 2002).
The figures only refer to accidents occurring within the Green Line as figures from the Judea
and Samaria District are not comparative over a number of years due to territorial adjustments
taking place there.
