Every year, many children and youth are injured after
touching or playing with ammunition they found in a
field or other abandoned place. In general, the
ammunition is old and unexploded – leftovers from army
and security forces exercises or from wars.
·
Don’t endanger yourself.
·
Don’t crowd around the ammunition.
·
Run away from it immediately, and warn
other people passing by or standing there to move
away.
·
Call the police immediately by dialing
100, If you are unable to do so, ask someone else to
do it for you via a cellphone or other nearby
telephone.
·
Inform the police about the exact
location of the ammunition.
·
Give the police an accurate description
of the ammunition: type, size, shape, color, etc. so
that disposal experts can use suitable equipment for
handling the ammunition and reach the location as
quickly as possible.
·
While you call the police, ask someone
to carry on warning people about the ammunition until
the police arrive on the scene.
When the police arrive, within a few minutes, they
will move people away, close the area off and handle
the ammunition in a professional and safe way.
If that is not possible, the police will neutralize
the ammunition on the spot.
